Asus Zenfone Go ZB552KL is a super-cheap, budget smartphone from Asus. With its price of $132, it manages to bring some astonishing performance to the table. Unlike its cousin, Asus Zenfone Live ZB501KL, it manages to bring quite a few for the price. That isn’t to say that one was extremely bad, it’s just… time goes on. Let’s start with design – it’s not exactly revolutionary and follows the design other companies are doing. The bezels aren’t super small, but not too big either, and fit the screen size. It’s available in multiple colors: black, white, red, gold, grey and blue.

It’s got every color palette you could ever want, and we’re excited about that. But what we aren’t excited about – it’s very thick, almost 11mm! That’s bulky where today’s smartphones are considered and might be a deal breaker for you. We’ve seen other Asus smartphones be thinner, so we’re not sure what’s the reason. It can’t be the space for battery, as Asus Zenfone 3s Max ZC521TL has 5000 mAh of capacity and it isn’t this bulky. This one has a 3000 mAh battery, which is decent and will last quite a lot on a mobile phone like this.

Whatever the case might be, if this isn’t a huge deal for you, let’s move on. The redeeming factor and one of the best Asus Zenfone Go ZB552KL specs is the screen. It’s an IPS LCD panel screen with 5.5-inches in diameter. We’re glad it’s up to today’s size standards, but what isn’t – the resolution is only HD, boasting only 1280 x 720 pixels. It can be forgiven, though, because of the price. But any attempt to put HD resolution on a 5.5-inch screen is definitely noticeable. But it is what it is, and it’s probably all Asus could’ve done for this model.

Next up – the camera combination isn’t the one we’re used to. Yes, the back camera has stayed at solid 13 MP of resolution, but the front one was downgraded from 8 MP that we know and love to 5 MP. You probably aren’t, and shouldn’t expect high-quality selfies anyways, but we wonder why it had to come to this. The video recording quality has stayed the same, though, and you can still record 1080p videos at 30 frames per second. Furthermore, you can store them on either 16 or 32 GB of internal memory, and if you need, expand up to 128 GB with an SD card.

Finally, we’ve come to the peripherals underneath. It’s the same, common 2013 processor we’ve already seen on other models of Asus. It’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Quad-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.2GHz. It will run the usual stuff, but don’t expect to do any high-end gaming. Its GPU is already quite old, Adreno 306, and we already have Adreno 540 and soon to have more. The amount of RAM is perfect for this specs sheet, coming at 2GB. Overall, a solid combination made for business people that don’t seek to do high-performance things on a phone. It’s more for reliability and occasional selfie or a picture of nat e, or playing simple games when you’re bored.

    Asus Zenfone Go ZB552KL

I thought that this cheap smartphone can't pack any punch, but i was wrong indeed! For a little over $100, i got this smartphone for my son and i was surprised by how well it fared with games and multitasking. It has a sharp HD display which i like very much.
