Google Pixel was released near the end of last year. To be honest, it was a welcome addition from the tech giant, Google. They added some nifty things to it, and we’ll mention them today. Let’s start with the visual side. When you look at the phone, you’ll notice different things, depending on the color. For example, there are Quite Black, Very Silver and Really Blue. Those are very funny names, and we had a good chuckle by reading them. Don’t let them fool you, they’re certainly no joke. All the colors Google Pixel look classic and very well-made. They had a lot of fun making it, but we’re still not certain the price of Google Pixel is right – minimally $460. It will be up to you to decide, and we’ll continue right away.
While the specs of Google Pixel are great, there are downsides too. For example, its AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 5″ in size and full HD resolution is great. We’re just not sure if it’s great enough for this price range. You must remember Google Pixel is almost a year and a half old at this point. The mobile phone also lacks a microSD slot, which is really a shame. A saving grace for Google Pixel can be the information about internal storage. You can choose either 32GB of 128GB. We’re a bit surprised to see such a jump, we usually see some amount in between. But we’re not discouraged having heard this.
While all the previous is true, Google Pixel is equipped with Quad-core (2×2.15 GHz Kryo & 2×1.6 GHz Kryo) processor based on Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 architecture. Throw in Adreno 530 GPU and you have a solid gaming and multitasking device. To us, that combination sounded very familiar, and then it hit us! To clarify, LG G6 uses the same peripherals to power the smartphone, and it already proved to be very functional and fast.
It’s time you learn about other important features of Google Pixel. First up, the RAM inside. it boasts 4GB of RAM, and it’s quite enough for these specs. Remember, we gave it a thumbs up in our article about best smartphones with 4GB RAM, and that has its own weight. Moving on, Google Pixel boasts a Li-Ion 2770 mAh battery, which may not sound impressive. And to be honest, in our analysis, it wasn’t as much. The features of Google Pixel saved the day, and one of them is Fast Charging. Stay with us, because we’ll tell you about the operating system. It’s Android 7.1 out of the box, and you can easily upgrade it to Android 8.0 if you wish so.
We still haven’t decided if you should upgrade, but user reviews will be valuable as more people do. Even though Google Pixel looks and feels great, it’s 8.5mm thick! That just might be too much, and it’s up to you. Other than that, Google Pixel has a 12.3 MP camera capable of recording 2160p videos at 30 fps and 1080p videos at 30/60/120 fps. The front one is only 8 MP which is a decent resolution for casual selfie-taking. To wrap up, if you’re still unsure, maybe take a look at Huawei Honor 7x? It has some similar specs, and even upgrades at a few of them.
