If you’re in the market for a phone that has a great battery life and design, Honor X7 seriously deserves your consideration. You can find much better phones at similar or lesser prices for everything else. However, it is still a decent phone that delivers good value for money. Speaking of value for money, the device comes at a price of about €200 which approximately converts to $214. Its only variant has 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. On the positive side, you can use 2 GB of the phone’s storage to extend its RAM and the internal storage should be more than enough for most users.
On the negative side, the memory type used here is eMMC 5.1. At this price, it should have been UFS storage. The storage is further expandable using a memory card, but it comes with a Hybrid SIM slot. Therefore, the phone has room for up to two Nano-SIM and can handle connections up to 4G. While 5G connectivity isn’t a guarantee at this price point, some rival phones do offer this feature. Honor X7 looks good and is well-built. The plastic back panel has a matte finish which does a good job of resisting fingerprints. Curved edges make it comfortable to hold.
The device measures 6.60 by 3.04 by 0.34 inches and weighs 198 grams. Honor has put the SIM card slot on the top of the device, while most of the manufacturers place it on the left or right side. This is unique and deserves special mention. In terms of colors, the options are limited to Ocean Blue and Titanium Silver. Honor X7 has a 6.74-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen with a 90 Hz refresh rate. While the display quality is decent for an entry-level phone, it’s completely not acceptable for a phone of this budget. Once again, the screen-to-body of 84.8% is good but the PPI density of 260 is average at best.
At the very least, Honor should have ensured the resolution to be FHD+. Both loudspeaker and headphone jack are present in this phone. Again, stereo speakers aren’t a guarantee at this price, but there are a few rival phones that come with it. The phone’s overall performance is decent for the most part, thanks to Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G processor. Its gaming requirements are handled by the Adreno 610 GPU. On the software end, the device runs Android 11 with Magic UI 4.2 on top. Seeing how the phone was released on the 14th of April 2022, it’s disappointing to see it still ship with Android 11.
One of the major cons of this device is that it delivers average performance. Honor X7 has a 48 MP wide-angle, 5 MP ultrawide, 2 MP macro, and 2 MP depth sensor camera on the back. Selfies are handled by the 8 MP wide-angle camera. Its camera features include LED flash, HDR, and panorama, Video recording is limited to 1080p@30fps. Needless to say, you can easily get rival phones that click much better pictures and handle video recording better.
Honor X7 has all the usual sensors. With a battery life of 2 days on average use, the phone is one of the best in the segment. The gadget has a 5000 mAh Li-Po battery that supports 22.5W fast charging. For communication, the device has dual-band Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, USB Type-C 2.0, and USB On-The-Go. While it does miss out on FM Radio, it has NFC, which is a plus.
