In the April of 2016, LG released their new high-end smartphone LG G5. It’s a beautiful-looking, slim smartphone, measuring a total of 7.7mm in thickness and is just 159g heavy. Or should we say light, because it’s one of the lightest phones we’ve encountered? Whatever the phrasing, it’s sleek and very impressive. It possesses some similarities to LG V20, but in other departments, it’s a completely different smartphone, and that’s something we’ll talk about today. There was, and is a fame surrounding the modular pieces you can exchange, but that doesn’t look to be all that finished, even now.

Motorola had similar thoughts, and we’ve heard of Project Ara, but even without that, this is a solid LG flagship smartphone. The screen is one of the best LG G5 specs, just like back on LG V10. Although smaller in size, 5.3-inches, the resolution is awesome – 2560 x 1440 pixels. We’d like it to be a little bit bigger, but it’s still extremely sharp. Also, thanks to the screen panel being IPS LCD, the colors and punchy and vivid. Contrast is subtle and overall, it all looks amazing. Addition to it is a Corning Gorilla Glass 4, which will protect your screen from scratches.

The design of the phone is a big upgrade when compared to the previous model, LG G4. For starters, it feels smooth, without any sharp edges and corner. Even though it can look like plastic, let us assure you, it’s an aluminum frame, and it’s all because of the finish they applied. The color choice is also great – silver, Titan, pink and gold. But what has been downgraded is the screen size, because remember, the previous one had 5.5-inch in diameter. We’re still not sure what to make of that, but at least it’s easy to use with one hand, and could be a good present for your loved ones.

What truly makes it stand out is the ‘LG Friends’ features of LG G5. Those are the ones we mentioned as modular, although not quite. They’re actually accessories that will make your phone unique and even more usable. For example, you can geta Cam Plus and Hi-Fi Plus, which will enhance the ones coming with your phone. You can also opt for 360 VR headset or 360 Camera, although they don’t attach to the phone itself. The modular camera, LG Cam plus adds a bulky, rubberized camera grip that has a zoom wheel, shutter button, but also 1200 mAh of battery.

They will all work in unison with your dual 16 MP + 8 MP cameras on the back and make taking pictures and videos effortless. What excited us is the ability to take 4K videos at 30 frames per second has been retained, if not improved. Where performance is concerned, for the price of LG G5, around $250, you are getting a 2016 top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor in a killer combination with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. Even if it’s around 2 years old at this point, it still holds its own with today’s games. Just don’t go playing the newest and most requirements-heavy ones, and you’ll be fine.

    A stellar device

LG G5 is a great device when you read the specs, and it also is when you use it, with its 2K display and a quad-core CPU. However, LG needs to fix those cameras on its G series, as i'm not quite satisfied with the work here. Aside from that, LG G5 is higly recommended by me.
