Microsoft Surface Book 2 is the newest addition to the world of Microsoft laptops. Right off the bat, you’ll notice it is shiny and silver. If you were hoping for a black laptop, Microsoft has disappointed you once again – no more colors are available. There is a lot you’ll be getting in this one, and Microsoft Surface Book 2 will give you a lot of possibilities. You get to choose a screen size – 13,5-inch or a 15-inch screen, depending on your needs. Whichever you choose – they will serve you well, as both sport a good resolution of 3000 x 2000 or 3240 x 2160, the difference is slight.

Now let’s talk about Microsoft Surface Book 2 specs that we welcome with both hands. The processor upgrade is long overdue. You’ll be getting the 7th or 8th generation of Intel’s dual-core i5 or quad-core i7 processors. When buying a 13,5” Microsoft Surface Book 2 they will let you choose between i5-7300U Dual-core 3.5GHz and  i7-8650U Quad-core 4.2GHz.The 15-inch model comes only with the i7 version of the processor. Graphics are up to par as well, sporting either Intel HD 620 graphics or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 in the smaller screen version. Bigger one sports a bit of an improvement, having NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 to run all your games or programs.

Some of the other Microsoft Surface Book 2 display features are – a 10-point multi-touch G5, and Microsoft promises a contrast ratio of 1600:1, and the aspect ratio of the screen is 3:2. An important thing to mentions is that Microsoft intended this laptop have a detachable screen. Now you’ll be able to use it as a standalone tablet! You’ll be losing a bit of graphical power while getting an ability to use pens to navigate, though. If it runs out of power, just reattach it to the keyboard for extra battery life and performance.

You might be wondering how much you’ll have to pay for this beauty? The price of Microsoft Surface Book 2 in smaller version starts at 1499$. For a 15-inch one, you’ll have to pay 2499$, as we mentioned. Microsoft Surface Book 2 has a design that looks great, no one can disprove that. A slightly bad thing is a  hinge when you reattach the screen – it’s a little wobbly if you were to change an angle. They obviously intended it as a competitor to Macintosh 15-inch MacBook Pro. What sets it apart is that it’s surely a decent gaming laptop. But not only that, it’s a powerful tool for all the artistic souls out there, feeling creative.

Microsoft Surface Book 2 features go a step further now – having both front and back-mounted camera. It is capable of recording 1080p video and having a decent size of 8MP on the rear and 5 MP on the back. It comes with 2x USB 3.0 A ports and one USB-C 3.0 port. You will find SD card reader is present along with 2 Surface Connect ports. Microsoft Surface Book 2 came up with 3 versions of an SSD disk for insane booting speeds, varying in storage size – 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB. They let you choose between 8GB or 16GB of RAM. In conclusion, whether you’re an avid gamer or a creative artist, this will fit all your needs.

    Just the laptop I needed

I'm in the art business myself, and I do find myself using tablets with pens to draw, write and sketch things up. Microsoft Surface Book 2 was just the right thing for me – detachable and with enough battery to last me a creative spurt session. But on the other hand, it has top-notch peripherals so I can make digital drawings fast and easy, or render in 3D programs. I'd recommend it to everyone that's into art or a Photoshop fanatic.
