The OnePlus 9R is a value-for-money flagship killer smartphone from OnePlus. The phone comes in three variants. The base variant has 8 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM. Both the other variants have 256 GB of ROM but differ in terms of RAM provided (8 GB / 12 GB). The price of the phone starts at $389. For color, you get two options, Carbon Black and Lake Blue. If you are a fan of glossy finishes, you should opt for Lake Blue. On the other hand, if you like matte finishes, go for Carbon Black. The phone was launched earlier this year on the 14th of April 2021.
One of the biggest highlights of this phone is its battery life. The phone has a 4500 mAh non-removable lithium-polymer non-removable battery that supports 65W fast charging. For most users, the phone will easily last a day on a full charge. The best part about the phone’s battery is its quick charging time. To be precise, it can go from 1 to 100% of charge in just 39 minutes. The build quality of the OnePlus 9R is quite great as it has an aluminum frame. Additionally, both the glass front and back are protected by Gorilla Glass 5. However, the phone doesn’t have an IP rating.
Coming to connectivity, the phone supports 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G. The device has room for two Nano-SIM cards, but not an SD card. The phone is 6.34 inches high, 2.92 inches wide, and 0.33 inches thick. Similarly, it weighs 189 grams, which isn’t heavy by today’s standards. The scene quality and the multimedia experience is amazing as it has a 6.55 inches fluid AMOLED screen. Furthermore, the screen-to-body ratio and PPI density are 86.8% and 402 respectively. Staying on the topic of multimedia experience, the gadget has stereo speakers but lacks the 3.5 mm headphone jack. Qualcomm SM8250-AC Snapdragon 870 5G processor handles the overall performance of the phone.
The Adreno 650 GPU looks after the gaming performance, which is awesome. The 120 Hz refresh rate definitely helps in that regard as well. On the software side, the OnePlus 9R runs Android 11 while the Android skin is the universally loved OxygenOS 11.2.4.4. The overall camera performance is good, but not the low-light camera performance. The phone has a quad-camera set-up on the back. It has a 48 MP wide-angle camera, a 16 MP ultrawide camera, a 5 MP macro sensor camera, and a 2 MP monochrome camera.
The gadget has a 16 MP wide-angle camera for selfies and video calls. The rear camera set-up can record videos in 4K and 1080p, while the front camera can only record in 1080p. The rear camera set-up includes features like Dual-LED flash, HDR, and panorama. When it comes to sensors, the phone has an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, and an under-display fingerprint sensor. For communication, the device has USB Type-C 3.1, USB On-The-Go, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.1, and GPS. Besides, the OnePlus 9R has NFC but lacks Radio, which is expected.
