The Poco M4 Pro 5G was first announced on the 9th of November 2021 and released a couple of days later. Poco devices are known to be value for money devices, and the aforementioned phone definitely proves that true. The device is priced at €229 (approximately $262) for the base variant, which has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The other variant has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The RAM and storage type used here is LPDDR4X and UFS 2.2. The device has room for an SD card and two Nano-SIM cards, that support connectivity from 2G to 5G.
For color, there are three options, Power Black, Cool Blue, and the very familiar, Poco Yellow. One of the major advantages of owning this phone is its affordability. Sure, it’s not a budget phone, but it is quite affordable considering the kind of hardware it uses. The gadget has a 6.6 inches IPS LCD screen that has a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The PPI density is 399 while the screen-to-body ratio is 84.8%. The Poco M4 Pro 5G can go up to 450 nits of brightness and the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
The multimedia experience is good, but it would have been better if the phone used an AMOLED screen. Staying on the topic of protection, the device has an IP53 rating for dust and splash protection. The phone measures 6.44, 2.98, and 0.35 inches in height, width, and thickness. The device weighs in at 195 grams, which isn’t heavy by the standards of modern smartphones. In terms of look, the phone feels great, but the back of the phone easily attracts fingerprints. Therefore, if you are looking to purchase the Poco M4 Pro 5G, make sure you use it with a case.
The device runs Android 11 out of the box on the software side of things, with MIUI 12.5 on top. The phone’s performance is smooth and handled by the MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G processor based on the 6 nm manufacturing process. Mali-G57 MC2 looks after the gaming and graphic requirements of the phone, which is further supported by the 90 Hz refresh rate. In the sound department, the Poco M4 Pro 5G scores big, as it has stereo speakers and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The phone’s sensors include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, accelerometer, gyro, and compass.
Another major highlight of this phone is its battery backup. The Poco M4 Pro 5G has a 5000 mAh non-removable lithium polymer battery that supports 33W fast charging. For most users, the phone will easily last you for a day on a single charge. Also, the device can get fully charged within an hour. The camera performance here is decent, but the phone was heavily criticized for its camera design. When you take a look at the back of the phone, you might feel that the phone has a quad-camera set-up on the back.
However, the phone only has a dual-camera set-up on the back. It has a 50 MP wide-angle camera and an 8 MP ultrawide camera. On the front, the Poco M4 Pro 5G has a 16 MP wide-angle camera for selfies and video calls. Both the front camera and the rear camera set-up can record videos in 1080p. For communication, the phone has USB Type-C 2.0, USB On-The-Go, GPS, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, and hotspot. Interestingly, the phone has Radio, NFC, and Infrared port as well, for which Poco should be praised.
