Samsung Galaxy S22 5G is one of the more premium phones from Samsung. The phone was first announced on the 9th of February 2022 and released on the 25th. The gadget comes at a starting price of $799 and has two variants. Both have 8 GB of RAM with 128 GB and 256 GB of internal storage. It doesn’t support an SD card, but it can handle two Nano-SIM cards along with an eSIM. There isn’t a plethora of phones that support embedded SIM, so this is undoubtedly an upside.
Samsung Galaxy S22 5G can also handle connections from 2G to 5G. Interestingly, the phone comes in eight color options, Black, White, Pink Gold, Green, Graphite, Sky Blue, Violet, and Cream. The phone’s build quality is superb, to say the least. The device has a glass front and back, both of which are protected by the top-of-the-line Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+. Furthermore, it has an armor aluminum frame and IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.
The first thing that will come to your mind when you look at the Samsung Galaxy S22 5G is its compact size. Therefore, using it with one hand is effortless. For reference, the phone measures 5.75 by 2.78 by 0.30 inches and weighs in at just 168 grams. The phone has a 6.1-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen that has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It has a screen-to-body ratio of 87.4% and a PPI density of 425, too. The phone delivers a great multimedia experience and the HDR10+ support certainly contributes.
In the sound department, the phone has high-resolution audio tuned by AKG and stereo speakers. Coming to the software, the device runs Android 12 with One UI 4.1 on top. The Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 expectedly delivers amazing overall performance. The gaming performance, on the other hand, is handled by the Adreno 730 GPU. Besides all the usual sensors, the device has a barometer. It also has Samsung DeX, Samsung Wireless DeX, Bixby natural language commands and dictation, and Samsung Pay.
Coming to cameras, the phone’s performance is great as well. On the rear, the Samsung Galaxy S22 5G features a triple camera setup. It has a 50 MP wide-angle camera with OIS (optical image stabilization), 10 MP telephoto camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom, and 12 MP ultrawide camera. Apart from the usual camera features, the device has gyro-EIS, dual video call, and auto-HDR. For selfies, the phone has a 10 MP wide-angle camera. The device can record videos up to 8K.
In the communication department, the phone has GPS, Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Hotspot, USB Type-C 3.2, and USB On-The-Go. While you can’t listen to FM Radio on this phone, it does have support for NFC. The phone’s battery life is average. It has a 3700 mAh Li-Ion non-removable battery that supports 25W fast charging. The device should last you for more than a day on average use.
However, at this price, Samsung should have provided a bigger battery. This is one of the primary drawbacks of owning Samsung Galaxy S22 5G. On the bright side, the phone has 4.5W reverse wireless charging and 15W Fast Qi/PMA wireless charging.
