Oh boy, what do we have today? It’s a mouse intended for gamers mostly, and it’s called SteelSeries Rival 700. It’s a very well-known manufacturer of gaming equipment, and they have quite a lot of models to offer to us gamers. But what makes this one stand out? That’s what we’re determined to find out today. First of all, it’s important to realize that you’ll have an effortless gaming performance with this one. It doesn’t have additional weights you can set up, but it makes up for it in different ways.

So let’s see what exactly the specs of SteelSeries Rival 700 have to say for it. Right off the bat, we’re pretty sure it will provide a great gaming experience. However, we’re wondering if it’s worth every penny, and you’re here to help us make that decision. Ultimately, it will be completely up to you to decide. So, you’ll notice a screen on the side. You’re probably wondering why is it there, and what its main use is? Well, it’s an OLED screen in combination with a vibrating motor, intended on adding additional feeling when playing your favorite game. Even though the intentions were good, not many games support this feature, which isn’t a good thing as of now.

Maybe things will change in the future, but you can still show some things on it yourself. Moving on – it’s a medium-sized mouse, not too big and not too heavy – only 135g. You’ll be getting RGB lights, as can be seen in the pictures, and it’s something every gaming mouse has. In addition to that, you receive 7 highly-customizable keys you can program to your liking. Like we already mentioned, you can’t modify its weight to fit better, but it makes up for it by having a sensitivity of 16000 DPI! Yes, you’ve heard that right.

In case you’re already looking for an alternative for browsing only, and realized this one isn’t for you – Logitech MX Master is a good choice. Back to the topic, let’s see how things are spread out. On the front, SteelSeries Rival 700 features a smooth plastic shell that is user-replaceable for an additional cost, if you wish so. You have the standard left and right click which are reinforced – in SteelSeries words, not ours. Furthermore, there’s a scroll wheel and a DPI switcher you can press for fast changes. We know there’s 16000 DPI, but we doubt you’ll use more than 4000.

On the side, there are rubber grips that will keep you stable and steady during intensive gaming sessions. There will be no sweat problems either, so you’re safe and sound to start right away. You’ll notice the OLED screen we talked about, but it’s black and white, refreshes at 10fps and sports a very slow resolution. Is all of that worth SteelSeries Rival 700 price of almost $75? We wouldn’t say, as there are some better mice out there. Now, don’t get us wrong, it’s very, very good for a plethora of games, and it will be up to you to decide if it fits your genre. In case you’re looking for an affordable, wireless option, Logitech M320 might be a good fit too.

Even if it's a bit more expensive

I decided to go for it. I liked the OLED display on the side, and it truly makes it unique to look at. Yes, it's about $15 more than Razer counterpart, but it has unique features to it, plus it looks better in my opinion too. It's a true gamer mouse, although not as shiny as Razer DeathAdder Elite, I must admit that. The design is quite boring, too, but it's the way I do it, I like old-school look of peripherals. But it has 16000 DPI sensitivity, which is insanely good, plus an optical sensor, allowing you to take control on uncommon surfaces. I like it so much, and please guys, give it a try.
