Xiaomi Mi 4c was released just a few months before its younger brother Xiaomi Mi 4s. These two share some common characteristics like the screen and the design in general. This one, too, is a very light smartphone, weighing about 133 g and being very thin – 7.8mm. It looks and feels great because of rounded edges and the material it’s made of – plastic in this case. There are two models to choose from, just like in Xiaomi Redmi Pro, where you can opt between 16 GB and 32 GB of internal memory, but not everything is so great, and we’ll mention that in a minute.

First of all, the price of Xiaomi Mi 4c is between $150 and $200. We’re saying that because Xiaomi doesn’t actually sell their products internationally. You’ll either have to import it yourself or order from various internet shopping websites. The color choice is the common one – black, pink, white, yellow and blue. The design isn’t anything new, in fact, sometimes it’s hard to determine which model we’re holding in our hands. It can’t be said that it’s ugly, just… not innovative at all. But the low price justifies it, and the screen it possesses, which is its main selling point.

The screen size is 5-inches in diameter, but what’s best – it’s a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. That means everything from interface and navigation to photos and videos will be crazy sharp and full of details. Also, it’s an IPS screen, and you’re already aware what that means – vibrant colors and a good contrast. The only bad thing in our opinion – it comes with Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop), which is getting old, and there are no updates in sight. The redeeming factor is MIUI 7.0, one of the unique features of Xiaomi Mi 4c.

It retains the reliability and function of original Android but adds an artistic touch and a few handy shortcuts and reworks. The camera is a combination we’ve seen on Xiaomi Redmi 4 (4X), of 13 MP and 5 MP, back and front respectively. It’s a decent one, and of course, you can’t expect 4K recording on a phone this cheap. However, you will be able to take 1080p videos and 30 frames per second on both back and the front camera. It’s a good one when you’re in a hurry, or taking a picture of class notes or nature. The front one allows for a casual selfie only in urgent situations.

Specs of Xiaomi Mi 4c are pretty similar to what we’ve seen on Mi Max, for example. Although it has been turned upside down. On that model, the CPU was weaker, and a bottleneck, while GPU was leading the way. Here, we feel like CPU is ahead, with a Hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 in combination with Adreno 418 GPU. The versions you’ll have to choose between, as we mentioned at the beginning, are between one with 2 GB and 3 GB of RAM. It’s not a mile of difference, so whichever you choose – it’ll be useful for multitasking in your day-to-day life. Finally, we were very disappointed to see there is no microSD card slot, so you can’t expand your storage.

    Xiaomi Mi 4C

At this price point, Xiaomi devices are almost identical. Me and my friend bought this smartphone and we aren't that impressed by its performance. Hexa-core CPU does a good job here but nothing compared to LG V10 for example. The design isn't the best out there either.
