Xiaomi Mi 4s is just another entry-level smartphone from Xiaomi. There are quite a lot coming in the past years, and we think it’s a good thing. At least it challenges the competition to do better, as they have a habit of offering great phones for a very small price. It’s partly because they rarely sell for the international market, almost never. If you’d like to get one for yourself, you usually have to bring it to your country via shipping yourself. But that way you pay customs fee and other stuff, and it turns out more expensive in the process. It’s worth it, in our opinion, all the struggle you have to go through.

Just like some of the other mobile phones in their production, this one is very light and thin. It weighs 133 g and is 7.8 mm thick, or should we say, thin. The color choice is pretty classic – black, gold, white, and pink. It doesn’t have any crazy colors like deep sea blue or anything, but it’s not something Xiaomi does. Xiaomi Mi 4s features a 5.0-inch screen with 70% screen-to-body ratio. It’s a good combination, meaning smaller bezels for you to look at. And true, they’re very thin and barely noticeable.

The screen itself is IPS, which in return means very vivid color and a pleasant viewing experience overall. What’s even better – the full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels is going to allow for sharp and detailed videos and pictures you’ll watch. Remember, Xiaomi Mi Mix and Mi Max both have full HD or a little more but stretched on a 6.4-inch screen, which is a huge difference. People weren’t entirely satisfied with it, so Xiaomi released Mi Mix 2 to fix things up. In this case, it’s a perfect combination of size and resolution.

It ships with Android 5.1 (Lollipop) right out of the box, but upgrades are possibly available. Even if they aren’t, most of the apps are available, and you won’t have any problems. Plus, there’s an MIUI 7.0 visual upgrade coming in the package, which will enhance your navigation and menus. The battery is pretty decent and very fitting for the phone resolution. It’s a Li-Ion technology with a capacity of 3260 mAh, and comfortably lasts a day of moderate usage. Like usually, there’s a quick charge feature to it too, allowing for fast and easy recharge. Also, unlike Xiaomi Mi 5, it does possess a microSD slot, which was the main problem we’ve seen with that one.

Plus, except adding up to 256 GB, it does come with 64 GB of memory on its own, while the one we mentioned had 32. The thing is, they have very similar prices, with the price of Xiaomi Mi 4s just above $250. Although all the Xiaomi Mi 4s specs are weaker, it’s still a Hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 in a combination with Adreno 418 GPU, which makes for a decent gaming smartphone. It won’t run the most demanding games, but it’ll serve you reliably. To add to that, there’s 3GB of RAM inside for all your multitasking needs.

    Xiaomi Mi 4s

While i like the performance on my device for about a year now, i really don't like its Android 5.0. Not because it doesn't work well but because there aren't updates and i'm left with the almost-outdated version of Android. Other than that, a solid performer.
