We went back to compare Xiaomi Mi Mix because as you know, the newer one came out recently. Now that we know what’s changed, we can appreciate the first one even more. In fact, it was really great as it was, and all the upgrades were a welcome addition. Before we go, you must be aware this is an older model, but some good specifications are still in use with Xiaomi Mi 6, for example. Okay, let’s start the journey to see this masterpiece from Xiaomi. The design was insanely great for the time it came out, specifically November of 2016. We did have some troubles holding it with one hand, just because it was so big. In fact, it might be an overkill, but it’s up to you as a person to decide.
We just can’t help it but start with the best specs of Xiaomi Mi Mix – and it’s all about the screen. First of all, the screen is one of the biggest, if not the biggest screens for smartphones today. With its 6.4-inch in diameter, it towers over some of the flagship mobile phones. But don’t worry, it’s not all about the size. It surely has the resolution to follow – we’re talking 1080 x 2040 pixels. That’s just a little bit more than Full HD, but some smartphones have way less. Because of IPS panel integrated inside, you will see bright, pleasant colors no matter what you watch. In conclusion, this phone is all about a big screen and tiny, almost non-existent bezels.
Furthermore, what might impress and attract you to this can be the lenses on the back. Xiaomi Mi Mix features a great 16 MP camera, which is capable of recording 4K videos at 30 fps. Video quality is great on the main camera, but front-facing camera isn’t exactly the best we’ve seen with its 5 MP resolution and not-so-impressive quality. In order to store all those pictures and videos, you need a bit of memory. Unfortunately, even though it comes with 128/256 GB of internal storage, you can’t expand that with an SD card.
And why should you, this should be enough for all your uses, unless you’re a big-time Youtuber. In that case, you might want to take a look at Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or Huawei Mate 10. They both have insanely good cameras and storage expanding capabilities to follow. The only downside is an operating system because it ships with Android 6.0 by default. But you can upgrade it anytime to a newer one, Android 7.0 at least, and who knows, as the time goes the updates will follow. In our analysis of Xiaomi Mi Mix, it will deal with any of those without any struggle. That’s because you can choose between 4GB and 6GB of RAM, and you’re settled in any scenario.
We’re near the end, and it’s time we mentioned the peripherals. Now, they’re not top-end by today’s standards, but more than a year ago they were quite powerful. What are we talking about, they’re still in use and provide good performance. We’re talking about a Quad-core CPU based on Snapdragon 821 chipset. The GPU that comes with it is Adreno 530, and it makes for a good mid-range combination nowadays. Before you go ahead and judge some of these, you must remember that Xiaomi Mi Mix price is only under $600, and it’s a bargain with these specs and features for this price range.
