Xiaomi’s latest series of smartphones is the Redmi Note 11 series. However, on the 27th of May 2021, Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 8 2021. It’s worth mentioning here that Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 8, two years back, in 2019. The new and improved Redmi Note 8 2021 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 octa-core processor, which is based on the 12 nm technology. The aforementioned processor has a score of 229447 on AnTuTu v9 while its equivalent, Snapdragon 665 has a score of 197746 on the popular benchmarking tool.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 2021 measures 6.23 inches in height, 2.96 inches in width, and 0.33 inches in thickness. Coming to how heavy it is, it weighs 190 grams. Although it has a plastic frame, it still has a glass front and a glass back. Besides, the device has Gorilla Glass 5 protection, both on the back and on the front. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 2021 has a 6.3 inches Full HD+ screen, with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5: 9. The screen-to-body ratio will be 81.7% and the smartphone can go up to 500 nits of brightness.

This device doesn’t have a punch-hole display, but it does have a dot drop display. Looking at the aforementioned specifications, it’s safe to say that using this phone outdoors won’t be an issue. The device will support two Nano-SIM cards, and it can handle 2g, 3g, and 4g connectivity. However, this device won’t support 5g connectivity. The device runs Android 11 out of the box, which is nice to see considering how every phone doesn’t come with Android 11 these days. The gadget will have MIUI 12.5. For your gaming needs, the phone has Mali-G52 MC2. Looking at the processor and the GPU, the gaming performance should be smooth.

The smartphone comes in two configurations. For the 4 GB Ram and 64 GB Internal storage variant, the price is $169 and $189 for the 4 GB Ram and 128 GB internal storage one. The RAM type is LPDDR4X, while the ROM type is eMMC 5.1. For color, there are three options, blue, white, and black which Xiaomi terms it as Neptune Blue, Moonlight White, and Space Black. The phone has a dedicated SD card that supports an SD card up to 256 GB, meaning you don’t need to compromise between extending your phone’s storage and running two SIMs.

On the back, the phone has four cameras. The main 48MP camera is a wide-angle camera, while the other 8 MP camera is an ultra-wide-angle camera. It also has a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor camera. The rear camera setup can help you record 1080p videos at 30 or 120 fps. It also allows you to capture slow-motion videos. The rear camera setup provides you with various photography and videography features including, pro-mode, AI Beautify, and video stabilization. On the front, the phone has a 13 MP camera for your selfie and video conferencing needs.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 2021 has a huge 4000 mAh battery and a USB Type-C 2.0 port that supports fast charging. You will get a 22.5 W charger in the box of this device. It doesn’t have NFC support, but it does have dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, and GPS. Apart from having a 3.5 mm headphone jack, it also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.
